Brocken, Hexentanzplatz, Rosstrappe - the Harz Mountains are full of legends about Walpurgis Night, witches and, of course, the devil. Exploring the region is therefore always associated with a bit of goosebumps, which is especially exciting for the little ones during a visit to the Harz.
But the Harz also offers hiking routes at different altitudes and through deep valleys. Between Thale and Treseburg, for example, is probably the most impressive valley north of the Alps. It is certainly no coincidence that the area is also called the "Grand Canyon of the Harz".
On the other hand, gems like Wernigerode (34 km) and Quedlinburg (22 km) are man-made. The small towns with their countless colourful half-timbered houses look as if they've come straight out of a storybook. A ride on the Bloksbjerg Railway is the perfect end to your stay in this special place - when the weather is good, the view from Bloksbjerg over the Harz Mountains is simply magical.
