Ribe Cathedral

Ribe Cathedral (Vor Frue Kirke), the city's pompous landmark, can be seen far and wide in the flat landscape. Ansgar, the Apostle of the North, built Denmark's first churches (of wood) in Schleswig and Ribe around 860. The present church was begun between 1150-1175 and completed between 1225-1250. After numerous alterations and additions, it is Denmark's only five-nave church, characterised by changing styles and many interesting details.

Ribe Domkirke

The cathedral is also Ribe's landmark and easy to spot in the flat landscape that characterises the region. It took about 100 years to complete the church, which was built around 1250. But since then there have been many additions and alterations, and today the cathedral is the site of a number of tombs to the most powerful men in the kingdom and the city. There is also an epitaph, donated by Valdemar Sejr, in honour of his son who died in 1231. A little south of the cathedral, Christian graves have been found, so perhaps Ansgar's church was also located there. With a history that can be traced back to around 700, when the first trading post was built, there is plenty of history in the city. Black Sun

The spring migration of starlings runs from February to mid-April, and the autumn migration begins in August and can last until December.

Brundtland Golf Centre

The beautiful and extremely well-maintained 18-hole golf course is relatively flat and characterised by wide fairways, several lakes and fast greens. The course is rated at par 73 and offers good and exciting challenges for golfers of all levels. Both ladies and gentlemen have two tee times to choose from. (Ladies: red and yellow | Gentlemen: yellow and white).

During the development of the course, inspiration was drawn from several first-class golf courses abroad. The course has been used several times during the Ecco Tour with great success and much praise.

If you are not a member of a club, there are still great opportunities to play golf! Brundtland Golf also has one of Denmark's most beautiful Pay & Play courses. Everyone is welcome here and newcomers have the opportunity to try out the game, while the more experienced can practice and fine-tune their skills. The Pay & Play course has 9 holes with seven par 3s and two par 4s.
