The bathroom had a rotten smell. Otherwise, decent hotel.

A 2-course dinner was included, but they couldn't offer it. Could choose from the à la carte menu but had to pay the difference if the main course cost more than the offer.

An absolutely hopeless digital system for breakfast. People need to learn to talk to fellow humans, not spend all their time on a mobile.

Satisfied, but breakfast ordering via QR code did not work. The dinner offer was very good.

Central, nice, lovely SPA department, friendly staff. The only negative was the incredibly hard mattress in the bed.

Nice place. Cultural experience

Very nice room and bathing facilities. The food was good, but we had to wait a long time (1 hour) before dinner was served on the first day. The next day there was more staff and faster service.

The only thing I think should have been better is that the reception should have informed us about what we were entitled to as riskov customers, such as breakfast and what the price limit for dinner is. Otherwise, it was good.

The hotel was very nice, and the spa was absolutely lovely! The hotel had a cozy atmosphere and the hotel breakfast was good.
What brought the stay down was that we had to eat at the restaurant next to the hotel. The restaurant, called Peder Hiort, did not have very good food. Several of the dishes were just okay. However, one day we were served cold food, and another day the meat was raw. We had to send the food back, and received neither an apology nor any kind of compensation. The pizzas also didn't have proper cheese, but rather "shredded topping" that tasted like cardboard. All in all, we were very impressed with the hotel, but disappointed that the food included in the package was at Peder Hiort.

An absolutely fantastic stay. We stayed in the old part, but nothing to complain about. The other three couples stayed in the new part, and they were also very satisfied. Fantastic friendly staff. Very helpful and so cheerful. Breakfast 10 out of 10. Peder Hjort; where we had dinner, what can one say; AMAZING :) Delicious food, lots of food, and dessert, 10 out of 10. Very pleasant waiters. An incredibly wonderful pre-Christmas time in beautiful, Christmas-decorated Røros.

Melting hut
In 'Smelthytta' visitors can see the exciting exhibition showing the history of Røros copper works through the ages, including different working processes in the extraction of copper from the mines, and the production of copper in the smelters. The exhibition is complemented by moving models that make it both easier and more fun to follow, for both adults and children.
The exhibition 'Ti finpussa' shows Røro's stoneware from the 19th century and there are also changing art and theme exhibitions.
Slegghaugan
Slag is the waste product that remains after the copper has gone through the smelting process. 'Slegghaugan' or Slag Mound reminds us of the enormous activity that has gone on for over 300 years in both mining and copper smelting. At the top of the slag heap there is a beautiful view over the Bergstaden. Both the Slegghaugan and Malmplass areas are protected by the Norwegian Cultural Heritage Act.
Not far from Slegghaugan is Sleggvejen, also known as 'Pippigatan', as an episode of Astrid Lindgren's story about Pippi Longstocking was filmed in the very same street.
Christmas market in Røros
Open 4th - 7th December - You can visit the Christmas market's own website with current information.
The heritage town of Røros is transformed into a real winter adventure every December. Here the charming streets are decorated for Christmas, the colourful houses are wrapped in a white blanket of snow and the cosy streets buzz with Christmas stalls tempting visitors with traditional Christmas treats, crafts and gift ideas.
The Christmas market in Røros is an atmospheric event for both young and old. In addition to around 50 small stalls, there are elves in the streets, carol singing, horse-drawn sleigh rides and other activities.
Røros
The small town of Røros is one of the oldest wooden towns in Europe. It is situated on a mountain plateau about 628 metres above sea level. The town has a long history, since 1644 when it was founded. A copper vein was found nearby and over time Røros became a very important mining town in Norway.
The town has kept its charm with its wooden houses and a really good, pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. There are many narrow streets and backyards around the inner city which also date back to the 17th century. This has also contributed to the city being a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The town is an open-air museum in itself and it is a wonderful experience just to wander through the old town and get up close to the lovely surroundings.
Doktortjønna Open Air Park
The large outdoor park at Doktortjønna is only a 5-minute walk from the centre of Røros. The park is the perfect place to go if the kids are having a great day. The park is the perfect place for families and children and there are lots of activities going on. There is a zoo, climbing, playing, fishing, rowing or paddling, and don't forget a ride on the Elias boat. There are also many beautiful trails in the area that either lead up to Kvitsandas or the lake. So, should you have any strength left, go on one of these wonderful walks.
Røros Church
'Bergstadens Ziir' - though best known as Røros church, was built when Røros copperworks was in its heyday. The church was completed in 1784 and is certainly a sight to behold. The Norwegian Rigsantikvar has named the church as one of the 10 most prominent churches in Norway. It's also one of the country's largest, with room for 1,600 visitors.
The church may be closed to the public during services, weddings, baptisms, etc.
