Niederwald-Denkmal

The Niederwald-Denkmal is located in the Niederwald Park, which has with an excellent view of the scenic Rhine River Valley. The monument was created between 1877 and 1883 to commemorate the historic unification of the German Empire after the Franco-Prussian War had ended.

Brömserburg

Drosselgasse

In the heart of Rüdesheim's old town, you'll find the ever-charming Drosselgasse. A cobbled street filled with historic buildings, restaurants, cafés, beer halls and small shops. Drosselgasse's authentic and magical atmosphere attracts more than 3 million visitors every year, and although it's no more than 144 metres long, it's a place where you could easily spend an entire day or evening.

Rüdesheim cable car

One of the highlights of any stay or trip to Rüdesheim am Rhein is the cable car ride up to the Niederwald Memorial. The phenomenal view of Rüdesheim's old town and the Rhine with its glistening water surface and scattered green islands, makes the glider ride over the vineyards a truly unique experience. Rüdesheim on the Rhine

Together with its extensive vineyards, the city's rich cultural and historical background makes it one of the most exciting places to visit in the country.

Adlerturm

Find a mini holiday at Risskov and go on a self-drive trip south to Germany. Visit the 20.5-metre high, late Gothic corner tower, which was built in the 15th century and was formerly located directly on the Rhine. The dungeon in the basement was only accessible through an opening in the vault above. The tower's name comes from the fact that the inn "zum Adler" was later housed in the tower. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe is known to have stayed at the inn during his visit to Rüdesheim. Today, the land the tower stands on is owned by the bank Nassausiche Sparkasse, which is located right next door.

Bingen on the Rhine

Find a cheap weekend break at Risskov and discover Germany in your own car and at your own pace. Visit Bingen which is the entrance to the upper part of the UNESCO-listed Rhine river valley. The city is an attractive destination and is surrounded by the wine regions of Rheinhessen, Nahe and Rheingau, among others. Bingen offers a wide range of attractions in a stunning scenic backdrop. Stroll along the Rhine through elegant parklands, past historic industrial monuments such as the Mouse Tower and enjoy the romantic atmosphere of the whole area. Rheinstein Castle

Find a cheap self-drive holiday with Risskov and discover the many sights Germany has to offer. One of them is the fairytale Rheinstein Castle, majestically perched on a steep cliff opposite the Assmannhausen district of Rüdesheim am Rhein. It is one of the most important examples of a romantic castle reconstruction. The masterpiece was designed by the architect Johann Claudis of Lassaulx and built in the early 15th century as a princely summer residence. Wiesbaden

Wiesbaden has a long tradition as a spa town thanks to its 26 hot springs and is actually considered one of the oldest in Europe. The city is a recognised centre for the treatment of rheumatic and orthopaedic diseases and the hot springs therefore remain an important element in medical treatments. For this reason, the city also has many specialised hospitals and rehabilitation centres.

Wiesbaden is also famous for its beautiful architecture and wonderful climate, which is why the city is also known as Germany's Nice.

Visit Schloßplatz, located in the centre of the city and surrounded by several excellent buildings. The Duke's Palace was begun under William, Duke of Nassau in 1837, and it was completed in 1841, two years after William's death. The palace was later used as headquarters for French and British occupying troops after the First World War, then as a museum. Since 1945 the building has served as the 'Landtag' or parliament building for the federal state of Hesse.

The cosy town has a lot to offer and a few hours in its pleasant company certainly can't hurt.

Mainz

Take a cheap car holiday in Germany. Strategically located at the confluence of the Rhine and Main rivers, Mainz is a university city. The city, which since 1946 has had the status of capital of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate, offers many beautiful churches - including, not least, the stunning cathedral - pleasant alleys perfect for shopping and a Gutenberg Museum where you will find, among other things, the first printed Bible.

The many cosy Christmas stalls spread throughout Frankfurt, from Römerberg to Paulsplatz and Mainkai. In addition to the many stalls, the Christmas market in Frankfurt offers a large and varied programme; you can, for example, hear the tower blowers from the balcony of the Nikolai church, the chimes around the 30-metre-high Christmas tree and lots of other concerts.
