Bad Dürnnberg

Berchtesgaden National Park

Mozart's House

W. A. Mozart was born in the "Hagenauer Haus" at No. 9 Getreidegasse in 1756. Today the house functions as a museum and displays 18th century furniture as well as portraits and some of Morzart's instruments. The fascinating museum tells the story of the famous composer's life and is one of the most visited museums in Austria. The museum is one of the highlights, especially for Mozart fans, when visiting the beautiful city of Salzburg.

Salzburg Cathedral

The beautiful Salzburg Cathedral, built in the Baroque style and completed in 1628, is beautifully situated on the Domplatz square in the old town of Salzburg. The cathedral has a beautiful facade with two towers and a very high dome. It houses a museum with a large collection of church art and paintings. It is definitely worth a visit.

Salzburg

Salzburg is a cosy city in western Austria, known especially for its Baroque architecture, its history, its location on the Alps and The Sound of Music. The lovely festival city is always worth a visit. Among the must-see sights when you visit Salzburg is the castle, which looms on a mountain peak just above the river. Salzburg is also Mozart's birthplace and both his birthplace and his residence in later years can be visited. If you're a Sound of Music fan, the city is a must. All the wonderful locations from the popular film can be visited.

Gollinger Vandfald

Mirabell Castle and Gardens

The beautiful white castle was built in Baroque style by Archbishop Wolf Dietrich in 1606. The castle is known for its large geometric gardens with statues, fountains, fountains and beautiful flower beds. Several scenes from the film The Sound of Music were filmed here and it is therefore an ideal place to spend an afternoon, especially for fans of this musical. Mirabell Garden also offers a view of the Hohensalzburg Fortress, perched high above the city.

Gaissai Hintersee Ski Resort

Gaissau Hintersee Ski Resort is located about 30 minutes south of Salzburg. It is an ideal place to visit for those driving down to Austria for a winter skiing holiday. Here you will find a wide range of winter activities with different levels of difficulty and 34 km of slopes, 90% of which are at an altitude of over 1,000 metres.

Salzburgring

During a holiday in or around Salzburg for those who are interested in motors, a visit to the Salzburgring race track is recommended. Located a few miles east of Salsburg you will find this 4.225 kilometres long track.

Lammerkløften

Lammerklamm (also known as Lammer Gorge) is a stunning natural monument near Scheffau in Salzburg. Carved by the Lammer River through steep limestone cliffs, the gorge stretches around 1,000 meters with a 43-meter drop between narrow and wide sections. A secure trail of wooden walkways, stairs, and bridges lets you explore “Dark Gorge” and calm pools of bright turquoise water in comfort. Open from spring through autumn, this scenic walk is well-suited for families, with nearby parking, restrooms, and optional entry from Oberscheffau that includes a traditional inn.

Hohenwerfen Castle

On a driving holiday to the beautiful area of Werfen in Austria, you can visit Burg Hohenwerfen, which sits high above the town, surrounded by beautiful scenery and mountains. From the castle there is an unforgettable view of the Salzach valley. Burg Hohenwerfen dates back to around the 11th century. In 1931 it was partially destroyed by a fire, but it was then rebuilt. The ice caves in Werfen

The Werfen ice caves are the largest in the world, and here you can experience the mountains in a whole new way. You'll see ice palaces of crystal-clear beauty, which even on hot summer days are an ice world. The network of passageways in the caves stretches for over 42 km, the largest of which, about 1 km long, has several huge ice figures. A perfect destination for a driving holiday in the Austrian mountains.

Russbach

The Hornbahn in Russbach takes you easily and straightforwardly up to 1450 metres altitude on the Hornspitz, where you'll find numerous hiking trails suitable for both children and adults. On the hiking trails you can admire the mountain panorama, Dachstein glacier, Gosaukamm ridge and Tennengebirge mountain range.

The yellow Ameisenexpress takes you through gently undulating Alpine terrain to Edtalmhütte, where you can re-energise with a traditional Austrian meal. There are plenty of hiking adventures for the kids and playgrounds in Bruno's mountain world. Emma, the giant ant, always looks forward to visitors. The alpine garden hides many treasures, while the swing forest and Bruno's giant slide invite children to have fun. Adults, meanwhile, can relax at the cosy panorama lounges or enjoy coffee and cake on the sun terrace.

The mountain railway Russbach, also called "Hornbahn" by the locals, is located in the centre of the Dachstein West hiking region in Tennengau. The station is just a 6-minute walk from Russbach town centre and makes the ascent to the Hornspitz a breeze. It's a great place to start for hikers or if you just want to go for a walk.
