About the hotel

Gaustablikk Fjellresort is located at the foot of Telemark highest mountain, Gaustatoppen, and offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere in peaceful and beautiful natural surroundings.

Gausta is an extremely family-friendly destination with many activities all year round. In summer it is a true paradise for active holidays, with everything from hiking in the mountains and road cycling to cross-country climbing. You can also explore the area on guided tours, or rent a bike at the hotel to discover scenic trails on your own. The proximity of the beautiful lake, Kvitåvatn, also gives you plenty of water activities such as swimming, canoeing (available for rent at the hotel), rowing, pedalos and stand-up paddling.

For a more relaxed activity, you can enjoy a round of minigolf on site, or take a ride with the spectacular mountain railway Gaustabanen, which runs inside Gaustatoppen and offers breathtaking panoramic views from the summit.

In winter you can enjoy the hotel's proximity to Gausta Ski Centre, which means you get ski in/ski out to one of Norway's best ski areas. In addition, you will also find a fantastic selection of cross-country ski trails just outside the hotel. There are trails for beginners as well as for the more experienced. develop their skills and enjoy a beautiful panoramic view of the mountains. When darkness approaches, a 3 kilometre long floodlit slope awaits. Skis and other equipment can be hired at the hotel. There is also a ski and snowboard school.

During your stay you have free access to the hotel's wellness area with heated pool of 12x7 meters, whirlpool, sauna and steam bath. It is also possible to book various massage and beauty treatments. As an added bonus, you also have the opportunity to enjoy a unique sauna nature, with a beautiful view of water, in one of the floating saunas on the lake, 'Kvitåvatn' (available for a fee and needs to be booked in advance). Other activities available at the hotel include: free table tennis, shuffleboard and paddle tennis for an additional fee.

You get the best possible start to the day with a nice rich breakfast buffet, with many organic, vegan and hypoallergenic alternatives. In the evening, enjoy tasty dishes in the cosy restaurant which offers beautiful views. Round off your day with a drink in the bar.

The Sportell is well suited for families and is located just a few minutes’ walk from the main facilities. Guests have access to the wellness area at Gaustablikk Fjellresort, ideal for relaxation after an active day. Breakfast and dinner can be added to the stay for and extra fee and are easily arranged at the hotel reception.
