Located in the western region of Germany, North Rhine-Westphalia boasts a rich history and a plethora of attractions that draw tourists from across the globe. Its history is a striking blend of ancient and modern times; from the remnants of the Roman Empire, such as the Xanten Archaeological Park, to the more recent industrial heritage showcased in the Zollverein Coal Mine Industrial Complex in Essen.
