Musholm – Where everyone can join in
About the hotel
Musholm Ferie – Sport – Konference sits right on Musholm Bay near Korsør, surrounded by protected coastline, open countryside and uninterrupted views of the Great Belt. Created by the Danish Muscular Dystrophy Foundation, it is a refreshingly different place to stay—one where beautiful design and genuine accessibility go hand in hand. Musholm is run with a purpose: its proceeds support the Musholm Foundation and help preserve and develop the centre as one of the world’s most accessible places to stay, meet and be active.
About the hotel
Musholm does not feel like a conventional accessible hotel. Here inclusion is part of the entire experience. The award-winning architecture—including the landmark expansion designed by AART Architects—removes physical barriers without compromising on aesthetics. Wide entrances, step-free routes, lifts and gently sloping ramps allow guests with and without disabilities to move through the hotel together.
The sports hall is open to overnight guests around the clock whenever it is not being used for an event. You might find guests playing badminton or table tennis, trying wheelchair sports or simply enjoying the space with their families. There is also a climbing wall, an indoor zip line, fitness equipment and creative areas. Some activities require an instructor or advance booking.
Step outside and the coast is less than five minutes away. Follow the accessible paths through the protected landscape, walk down to the beach at Musholm Bay or find a quiet spot overlooking the Great Belt Bridge. The area is ideal for walks, cycling, fishing and birdwatching.
The stay includes breakfast and dinner comes with a view at Restaurant Evald K. Its broad windows and waterfront terrace look across the bay. The kitchen follows the seasons and draws on produce from West Zealand. Expect fresh ingredients, local flavors and a thoughtful approach to sustainability.
Korsør is a short drive away, with its harbor, historic fortress and close-up views of the Great Belt Bridge. You can also visit the Viking fortress of Trelleborg, one of Denmark’s best places to explore Viking-Age history. The beaches, villages and cycling routes of West Zealand offer plenty of possibilities for a longer day out.
Rooms
With Risskov you can book various accomodation types. Each room has a private bathroom, elevation-adjustable beds and step-free access to its own terrace, but the layout and accessibility equipment differ between house types.
House Types A and D are generous 38 m² studios with a double elevation-adjustable bed, which can be separated into two singles on request. Each has a kitchenette, a dining area and a private terrace—an easy setup for guests who appreciate a little more room and independence. These rooms do not have permanently installed accessibility equipment, but portable aids such as shower chairs can be reserved before arrival.
The 30 m² Type I rooms take accessibility a step further. The entrance door opens automatically, while the windows and curtains are operated electronically. Inside are two elevation-adjustable beds that can be joined as a double, an adjustable luggage table, a television and a small refrigerator. The bathroom has an adjustable washbasin and a height-adjustable toilet. A ceiling lift and wall-mounted shower chair can be installed when booked in advance. Type I guests can also use the nearby pavilion, with indoor and outdoor dining areas, outdoor kitchens, grills and gas burners.
Everything is designed to make the stay feel straightforward and comfortable—so guests can spend less time thinking about practicalities and more time enjoying Musholm.
