Rüdesheim cable car

One of the highlights of any stay or trip to Rüdesheim am Rhein is the cable car ride up to the Niederwald Memorial. The phenomenal view of Rüdesheim's old town and the Rhine with its glistening water surface and scattered green islands, makes the glider ride over the vineyards a truly unique experience. The station where you get on is located on Oberstrasse.

Rüdesheim on the Rhine

Rüdesheim am Rhein is one of Germany's most productive and scenic wine regions. The town invites you to beautiful hikes through the mountains and stunning views of the dazzling Rhine River Valley and large parts of the UNESCO-listed Rheingau district. Together with its extensive vineyards, the city's rich cultural and historical background makes it one of the most exciting places to visit in the country.

Adlerturm

Find a mini holiday at Risskov and go on a self-drive trip south to Germany. Visit the 20.5-metre high, late Gothic corner tower, which was built in the 15th century and was formerly located directly on the Rhine. The dungeon in the basement was only accessible through an opening in the vault above. The tower's name comes from the fact that the inn "zum Adler" was later housed in the tower. Johann Wolfgang von Goethe is known to have stayed at the inn during his visit to Rüdesheim. Today, the land the tower stands on is owned by the bank Nassausiche Sparkasse, which is located right next door.

Brömserburg

One of the places that definitely deserves a visit is Brömserburg Castle which was built around the year 1000 and is located directly on the Rhine riverbank in Rüdesheim am Rhein. Originally built as a moated castle for the archbishops of Mainz, it was home to many knightly dynasties. The name comes from the noble family "Brömser", who lived here from 1548 until 1668, when the family died out. Niederwald-Denkmal

The Niederwald-Denkmal is located in the Niederwald Park, which has with an excellent view of the scenic Rhine River Valley. The monument was created between 1877 and 1883 to commemorate the historic unification of the German Empire after the Franco-Prussian War had ended.

Rheinstein Castle

Find a cheap self-drive holiday with Risskov and discover the many sights Germany has to offer. One of them is the fairytale Rheinstein Castle, majestically perched on a steep cliff opposite the Assmannhausen district of Rüdesheim am Rhein. It is one of the most important examples of a romantic castle reconstruction. The masterpiece was designed by the architect Johann Claudis of Lassaulx and built in the early 15th century as a princely summer residence. The interior is characterised by beautiful glass mosaics and wall paintings. It is also possible to find cheap weekend breaks with child-friendly hotels in the area with Risskov.

Wiesbaden

Wiesbaden has a long tradition as a spa town thanks to its 26 hot springs and is actually considered one of the oldest in Europe. The city is a recognised centre for the treatment of rheumatic and orthopaedic diseases and the hot springs therefore remain an important element in medical treatments. For this reason, the city also has many specialised hospitals and rehabilitation centres.

Wiesbaden is also famous for its beautiful architecture and wonderful climate, which is why the city is also known as Germany's Nice.

Visit Schloßplatz, located in the centre of the city and surrounded by several excellent buildings. The Duke's Palace was begun under William, Duke of Nassau in 1837, and it was completed in 1841, two years after William's death. The palace was later used as headquarters for French and British occupying troops after the First World War, then as a museum. Since 1945 the building has served as the 'Landtag' or parliament building for the federal state of Hesse.

The cosy town has a lot to offer and a few hours in its pleasant company certainly can't hurt.
