The Old Border Inn is certainly worthy of its name, and the inn has a long and exciting history behind it dating back to the early 1600s. The inn has a natural and idyllic location in the middle of nature and is not far from the historic gingerbread town of Christiansfeld.
The Old Border Inn has been in operation since the 1600s and therefore hides a long and exciting history of royal visits and festive occasions throughout the ages. It was also here, on 10 July 1920, that King Christian X mounted his white horse to ride into Southern Jutland. Den Gamle Grænsekro is also known as Frederikshøj Kro and is often referred to as Grænsekroen.
The inn welcomes its guests and you will quickly feel at home in the quiet and comfortable surroundings and historic atmosphere. Relax on the terrace or enjoy a traditional Danish meal in the restaurant. You can end the day with a drink in the tavern bar or have a game of billiards with one of the other guests. There is also a playground outside if you have children who need some fresh air.
The famous gingerbread town, Christiansfeld, was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2015 and is just 3 km from the inn. Kolding is also worth a visit and has a lot to offer and if the weather is nice, Grønninghoved Strand is also an option.
Free private parking is available at the inn, as well as free WiFi access.
Den Gamle Grænsekro has 26 cosy rooms overlooking rural and scenic surroundings. All rooms have a private bathroom with either shower or bath and toilet. There are also tea and coffee making facilities, a TV and a work desk. In connection with the rooms there is a living room with billiards and a direct exit to the terrace.
