Risskov offers a wide range of self-drive holidays to Austria. The Alpine country offers beautiful nature holidays in Tyrol and Salzburgerland, city holidays in Vienna, ski holidays in Vorarlberg or wellness holidays in the Alps. Winter holidays, Easter holidays or summer holidays can be enjoyed in the historically exciting country.

Salzburgerland is located near the German border and is best known for its fantastic ski resorts. However, it is also a wonderful place to visit in summer, as the area offers many wonderful nature experiences. In Salzburgerland you can experience perhaps Austria's most magnificent mountain gorge, the Liechtensteinklamm, one of the longest and deepest gorges in the Alps. Here you can experience large amounts of meltwater rushing down in impressive waterfalls. Discover the Krimmler waterfalls, the salt mines of Dürrberg and Austria's highest mountain, Grossglockner. You can also visit Salzburg's "Old Town" with its internationally renowned Baroque architecture or see Mozart's childhood home. The area has the most beautiful scenery for an active holiday and interesting towns with great architecture.

In the western part of Austria, Tyrol is full of scenic areas with peaceful lakes, stunning mountains and wonderful landscapes. You can also discover the city of Innsbruck, known as the "capital of the Alps". The city is surrounded by imposing mountains, which provide a great view from the city centre with historic buildings and a cosy atmosphere. The old town of Innsbruck dates back to the Middle Ages and still consists of a number of charming medieval houses. The area is a perfect destination for skiing and snowboarding in winter, and mountaineering and hiking in summer.

Between Lake Constance to the north and the Arlberg and Silvretta mountain ranges to the south, you'll find the beautiful Austrian region of Vorarlberg. The varied landscape offers many opportunities for activities and relaxation by the lakes or in the mountains. In summer, beautiful Bodensee and the many other lakes in the area are a wonderful destination for an alternative beach holiday. The green mountains in summer are ideal for hiking and cycling. While in winter the snow-capped mountains offer kilometres of ski runs and beautiful cross-country trails.

In Austria's south-eastern region, Styria, you'll also find a wealth of exciting experiences. Discover the regional city of Graz, the capital of joy, where a medieval atmosphere takes you back to ancient times. The old town was named European Capital of Culture in 2003. The surroundings of Graz are also worth discovering. North of the city there are mountains and meadows for hiking and cycling. South of the city are the hot springs and also where the famous Austrian wines are produced. Enchanting castles adorn the beautiful landscape to the east and to the west the famous pumpkin oil "Green Gold" from Styria is produced.

In north-eastern Austria, you'll find the country's capital, Vienna. It is the 7th largest city in Europe and therefore a great destination for a city break. Part of the charm of Vienna is that there are many impressive buildings left over from its heyday that are still preserved, giving the city a medieval feel. You can visit the Vienna Zoo, the world's oldest zoo. You can visit Schönbrunn Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, or the beautiful Gothic Belvedere Palace. You can also wander through the centre of Vienna and take a closer look at the many shopping streets such as Kärntnerstrasse, Graben or Kohlmarkt.

Whether you are looking for an active holiday, a holiday with children, a castle holiday, a nature holiday or a city break, Austria has the perfect solution. Go hiking in the beautiful Austrian mountains and enjoy the view from the top or drive past mirror-clear lakes and small alpine villages in the high mountains. Visit Mozart's birthplace Salzburg or the country's capital Vienna. Relaxation and exploring are the key words for a holiday in Austria.
