Quedlinburg is a famous town in the northern Harz Mountains and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Many small and large films and series have been shot in Quedlinburg over the years. The World Heritage town certainly meets all visitors' expectations. Indeed, it's like stepping back in time hundreds of years when you're standing in the middle of the old town, which with its well-preserved half-timbered houses could easily resemble the backdrop of a medieval village. In Quedlinburg, you can walk in the footsteps of German history as you stroll through the small streets and alleys of this world heritage town. The hotel is close to the St. Nikolai church, the market square and the museum of half-timbered houses (Ständerbaumuseum). Visit the Schlossberg and see the world-famous cathedral treasure of Quedlinburg. The Klostock House and the Lyonel Feininger Gallery are also recommended destinations.

Combined with the many outdoor options on offer, Hotel Zur Goldenen Sonne is a lovely place to stay. From here you can go on excursions to the nearby wild and romantic Bode Valley in Thale and get to know and love the Harz Mountains and its nature. A visit to the Rübeländer stalactite caves and the Hägebrücke TITAN RT is just as recommendable as excursions to Wernigerode or Haberstadt. The Boderadweg connects Quedlinburg with the R1 European cycle route, which runs from Boulonge-sur-Mer in France to St. Petersburg in Russia.  The R1 has a total length of 3,500 km.
