At the end of the 19th century, Arendal was the most important town in Sørlandet, also both more important and larger than Kristiansand, although this is no longer the case. However, Arendal experienced enormous growth and it was at this time that the Grand Hotel Arendal was built. The interior is decorated in a maritime style with mahogany and a really cosy atmosphere. The hotel was renovated in 2008 and today has all the modern facilities that are expected. Grand Hotel Arendal is located in the centre of Arendal, which means it is not far from the town's restaurants, shops and many attractions.
Lunch is served in the hotel restaurant and dinner is included in the price. The reception also has a small bar where you can relax with a glass of beer.
It is also worth mentioning that the hotel has free WiFi and that pets are allowed at an extra cost.
The centre of Arendal is only 200 metres away, down by Pollen in the harbour, and the train station is only 500 metres from the hotel. There are also public parking spaces, which cost around NOK 140 per day.
Grand Hotel Arendal offers 42 rooms, all decorated in maritime colours and details to match the sumptuous décor. The ship's floor and woodwork are made of mahogany in true shipbuilding tradition. All rooms have a desk, TV and ironing board in the wardrobe. The bathroom is brightly decorated.
The hotel was renovated in 2008, but parts of the hotel are being renovated again here in 2019.
