Southern Norway is characterised by its beautiful coastline with many coastal towns peeking out over the desert sea. The stunning scenery also characterises the interior, where you can find Norwegian mountains, lakes and forests. Southern Norway is the perfect combination of nature holidays and relaxation by the coast. Sørlandet, as southern Norway is known, offers activities and attractions for the whole family. Hiking here is a great experience whether you choose the mountain areas of Setesdal, Åmli, Sirdal or Åseral or you enjoy a hike along the coast. If you are an active nature lover, you can also go cycling, canoeing or fishing. The coast towards the Skagerrak invites you to go deep-sea fishing among the many islands and lakes. You can also visit Norway's fifth largest city, Kristiansand, where you can stroll through the old town, take a pleasant boat trip to Lillesand or visit the former naval base on Odderøya.
